In brief

Treat each Indian brand's size chart as independent. Compare body and garment measurements instead of assuming that one familiar size label will fit consistently.

Labels are not universal

A medium in one brand can be close to a small or large elsewhere. Traditional silhouettes, unisex products, and international brand conversions add further variation.

Measure the garment

For an existing garment that fits well, record shoulder, chest, waist, hip, sleeve, rise, inseam, and total length as relevant. Compare these with the actual product rather than only a body-size chart.

  • Confirm whether measurements are body or garment measurements.
  • Ask whether the fabric stretches.
  • Allow for the intended loose or fitted silhouette.

Consider alteration options

Some garments can be adjusted locally before shipping. Confirm available seam allowance, alteration charges, and the effect on returns before approving changes.
